Kaunialan Sairaala Oy and Enfucell Oy have signed a cooperation agreement on a project for developing a telemetry and care concept for elderly people. A letter of intent for the project was signed on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.
The joint project aims at developing a multipurpose sensor, which is flexible and simple for its user, provides additional safety for elderly people living at home, while reducing health care costs by cutting down unnecessary visits to health centers. Enfucell has developed a flexible and thin battery technology, which enables the use of sensors integrated into soft skin-attachable patches.
“There are various devices and applications for remote care on the market, but none of the existing ones were able to fulfill the expectations on what we wish to offer for our clients,” said Mervi Ahlroth, managing director for Kaunialan Sairaala Oy.
So far this battery technology has mainly been used for applications in sports, logistics and cosmetics. However, the technology can also be applied to medical healthcare use.
