On Nov. 8, 2016, the Zurich Climate Prize 2016 in the category Buildings & Housing was awarded to Solaxess at a ceremony held at the Umwelt Arena in Zurich. The award is recognition of an innovative technology developed by CSEM; a technology that will revolutionize the built environment. Entire facades will in future be fitted with photovoltaics, significantly reducing CO2 emissions as this facilitates a move to renewable energies.
This revolutionary technology allows Solaxess achieve what was supposed to be the impossible—white and colored solar panels with no visible cells or connections. It can be applied on top of an existing module or integrated into a new module during assembly, on flat or curved surfaces.
CSEM ensured the efficient transfer of the technology to Solaxess, and engineers from both organizations continue to collaborate in the effort to make this technology a commercial success.
