Nanoco Group plc announced the next generation of its NANOCO CFQD® FINE COLOR FILM™. This new film builds upon Nanoco’s quantum dot development, delivering outstanding levels of brightness (up to 5-10% more) and performance, sustainably powering the fast-growing high-end TV display and media-centric monitor markets as the industry progresses on the roadmap to DCI-P3 and BT.2020 standards and away from cadmium-based solutions.
The company will be exhibiting its next generation NANOCO CFQD Fine Color Film at CES 2018 in Las Vegas, Jan. 9-12.
Quantum dots continue to disrupt the high-end dispalay market, due to their ability to produce more beautiful, vibrant color than traditional LCDs, their fast response time, their high energy efficiency and their cost competitiveness compared to OLED technologies. Quantum dots are increasingly applied to monitors to deliver DCI wide color gamut, color accuracy across a high dynamic range, artifact free high frame rate motion and low black levels made possible with local diming BLUs. These characteristics are all required for the upcoming generation of media-centric monitors used for gaming, video streaming, video production, online shopping, and other consumer applications. Only Nanoco CFQD Fine Color Film can meet consumer demand for wide color gamut in the next generation of highest quality LCD products.
“Ultra-High Definition TVs are quickly becoming the top performing segment of the liquid crystal TV market. These UHD Premium TVs, such as ones Nanoco displayed from a leading global manufacturer at the recent Touch Taiwan event, offer 99% DCI-P3 wide color gamut enabled by our CFQD Fine Color Films, working in concert with 1000-2000 nits peak brightness, high dynamic range and high frame rates,” said Dr. Michael Edelman, CEO, Nanoco. “And now, consumer craving for this same high image quality is driving strong demand for Nanoco’s technology in the media centric monitor market.”
At CES 2018, Nanoco will also spotlight future applications areas, including:
• Cadmium-free quantum dots supporting the emerging BT.2020 specification.
• Cadmium-free quantum dots in color conversion applications.
• Electro-luminescent quantum dots for ultimate display performance.
