UV/EB Group Targets Technology Development

RadTech-the Association for Ultraviolet (UV) and Electron Beam (EB) Technology, announces a special meeting on the development of photovoltaics using UV/EB technologies, in conjunction with the upcoming uv.eb WEST Conference, Los Angles LAX Sheraton Gateway Hotel.

“Two of the key drivers in the photovoltaics (PV) market are the importance of achieving cost parity with existing power sources; and the need to improve the efficiency of PVs,” said Mike Idacavage of Cytec, president of RadTech. “UV technology is uniquely positioned to not only make a major impact on both of these goals, but to do so in an environmentally responsible way.”

Extremely rapid UV cure has a major impact on process costs and lends
itself to the need for less capital equipment, along with a less
complicated process design. Some of the areas where UV is being
developed for PV includes as an antireflective coating to improve PV
cell efficiency, barrier coatings, optical adhesives, UV curable
conductive inks and pastes and anti-scratch and abrasion-resistant
coatings.

The UV/EB Photovoltaics breakfast meeting is open to all uv.eb WEST
participants, and is scheduled for 8:00 am, February 18, at the
Sheraton LAX. In addition, the event will present a special PV
Conference session later that morning, as well as a keynote
presentation by Dr. Raymond Oliver, a worldwide renowned
thought-leader on the future of flexible PV.
