Plastic Logic announced that it is supporting Read an E-book Week in order to raise consumer awareness for eReading during the upcoming designated week. Plastic Logic plans to enter the market in 2010 with an eReading product targeted specifically for business reading.

Read An E-Book Week's website provides information on the latest technology used in reading devices, the history of e-books, the future of e-books, and notable features on a variety of e-book reading devices. Visitors will also find free e-books, classic e-books, the latest best-sellers in electronic format, the latest e-book readers and author websites--you'll find it all at Read An E-Book Week. Individuals interested in the environmental impact of electronic reading will find details of a life-cycle assessment of paper books versus e-books. For more information please go to http://www.ebookweek.com.

The Plastic Logic Reader is differentiated by a form factor that is large (the size of 8.5 x 11-inch paper), thin, light and robust– about the size of a pad of paper. It is distinguished by a high-quality reading experience that is better than alternatives of paper or other electronic readers on the market today. Core to the product is Plastic Logic’s groundbreaking plastic electronics display technology.

“It's exciting to see an eReader aimed at the business professional,” said Rita Toews, a representative from Read An E-book Week.” “Avid book fans have found innovative ways to read novels on cell phones and PDAs, but that format doesn't lend itself to business documents. I can see the Plastic Logic Reader becoming an essential tool at the board table, and then turning into a book reader in the evening. No more lugging heavy briefcases on the next business trip--it's all in one lightweight reader.”

"We are delighted to support Read An E-Book Week to help educate users about new solutions that will significantly improve the digital reading experience and will help make eReaders mainstream. This is the beginning of a whole new era in publishing,” said Joe Eschbach, Plastic Logic’s vice president of marketing.
