SCHOTT Solar, Inc. announced that Dr. Gerald Fine, president and CEO of SCHOTT North America, will assume oversight of the company’s North American solar business unit, effective immediately, in addition to his current responsibilities with SCHOTT North America. Fine will be taking over from SCHOTT Solar’s current president and CEO, Mark Finocchario.

“I want to thank Mark for his hard work and service to the company,” said Dr. Fine. “I look forward to having an even greater role in SCHOTT Solar’s longstanding commitment to developing and manufacturing the highest quality products, and delivering the superior customer service that the industry has come to know and expect from us.”

Dr. Fine joined SCHOTT North America as vice president, business development in June 2007 after a diverse career that began with Corning. He was promoted to president and CEO of SCHOTT North America in January 2008. Dr. Fine holds a bachelor’s degree from Amherst College and a Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology. He holds nine U.S. patents and is the author of numerous articles in both technical and trade journals.
