Germany has had a new ID card since Nov. 1, 2010. With this high-tech card, the legislator has made it possible for citizens to also use the ID card for secure transactions on the Internet. At CeBIT in Hanover, which is set to open March 1, Bundesdruckerei GmbH will present its eID Service along with newly developed online applications for the ID card.

The launch of the new ID card marked the introduction of a new online ID function. At CeBIT, Bundesdruckerei will show how today's registration offices work with this card and how quick and simple dealings with public agencies, e. g. applying for a certificate of registration, can be handled online.

This Berlin-based high-tech company not only produces the new ID card, as a full-service provider for private companies and public agencies wishing to use the online ID function of the ID card, it also offers its so-called eID Service. This service allows holders of the new ID card and online suppliers to identify each other on the net.

Visitors to CeBIT will also have the opportunity to receive a sample ID card at Bundesdruckerei's booth. In combination with newly developed, convenient software, this card can then be used for different applications at the booth. These include, for instance, age verification with the ID card to buy a video - sitting in front of a TV with Internet capability.

Bundesdruckerei can be found at CeBIT in the Public Sector Parc, Hall 9, Booth D 80.
