TAGSYS RFID will demonstrate the technical innovation and business benefits of its patented UHF RFID solution at an MIT Enterprise Forum event on November 5. The event, titled “Disruptive Innovation: Impact of Long-range RFID & Sensors on Internet of Things,” will feature presentations on the latest RFID developments and use cases.

Joining TAGSYS will be leading logistics services supplier Port Logistics Group, which will talk about its use of RFID-enabled systems to increase efficiency and lower costs in the retail supply chain.

The TAGSYS demonstration will showcase its unique approach to enabling efficient RFID tagging in a wide range of items and materials. It uses a patented technique to incorporate very small sized UHF RFID tags that deliver unmatched reading ranges, thus significantly improving the effectiveness and practicality of item-level tagging. The technology forms the heart of TAGSYS’ complete, interoperable and scalable RFID system for retail and apparel applications.

The Port Logistics Group presentation will discuss the increasing demands from retailers and manufacturers for RFID capabilities throughout the supply chain, particularly in high value apparel and consumer goods markets. The company will touch upon the issue of RFID compliance trends in retail, and show how RFID-enabled goods can significantly reduce cost and improve visibility at various stages of the supply chain, including the receipt of goods at warehouses, outbound order verification, inventory management and cycle-counting.

“We are pleased to have such leading-edge RFID expertise assembled at our event on Nov. 5. TAGSYS brings a wealth of experience in RFID technology and how it can be applied to bring bottom-line benefits to companies in retail. Port Logistics Group is a leader in the efficient movement of goods and its growing use of RFID makes the company an even more valuable partner to retailers, brands and manufacturers. These two perspectives will be a great complement to the rest of the line-up of speakers at the event,” said event chairman Tom Coyle.
