Promethean Particles is resuming manufacturing at its UK site following the implementation of new safety measures to reduce the risk from COVID-19.

The company’s Nottingham site is home to the world’s largest multi-material nanomaterial plant of its kind.

In March, it closed its doors in line with government guidance and employees worked from home.

“After reviewing our operations to ensure the health and wellbeing of the Promethean team, customers, suppliers and our local community, we are in a position to re-start manufacturing and begin taking orders once again," said Ed Lester, technical director. “This has been a unique time for the business, but we have all worked hard to ensure that our customers have continued to be supported throughout. Despite the closure, we’ve been able to progress valuable research projects remotely and continued planning for some potential new market opportunities in the coming year.
New safety measures include the implementation of two shifts and the reconfiguration of office spaces to better facilitate social distancing. In addition, a thorough cleaning and sanitizing program has been established."
