Konarka Technologies, Inc., an innovator in development and commercialization of Konarka Power Plastic, a material that converts light to energy, today announced a commercial alliance with Nu Energy, a partnership that is expected to initiate deployment of its organic photovoltaic technology into the Australian market for both commercial and residential applications.
The leader in the renewable solutions industry in Australia, Nu Energy has installed more than 18,000 solar systems throughout Australia in households, large industrial sites and government applications.
“We are delighted Nu Energy has selected Konarka’s Power Plastic to deliver solar technology to their customers throughout the region,” commented Howard Berke, executive chairman and co-founder of Konarka. “This relationship enables us to continue our go-to-market strategy of partnering with leading companies across the globe in a variety of emerging photovoltaic integrated applications.”
The thin, light-weight and flexible characteristics of Konarka’s Power Plastic makes it particularly conducive to a wide range of uses. Power Plastic captures both indoor and outdoor light and converts it into direct current (DC) electrical energy. Manufacturers can easily integrate the material into their products for both commercial and residential uses, creating energy producing products.
“This partnership gives Nu Energy additional solutions for its residential and commercial customers, adding value to their properties and reducing energy bills even further,” commented Simon Schauble, CEO of Nu Energy. “We are proud to partner with Konarka and introduce their rapidly developing solar technology into Australia.”
