For the first time, the entire production process for printed electronics will be demonstrated live at a trade fair. The OE-A working group “Upscaling Production” has set up a production line at LOPE-C in cooperation with two research centers and 11 international companies. It shows how fully functional and interactive battery testers are produced in several printing and coating processes.
This is the first time that material suppliers, equipment manufacturers and process developers have teamed up at LOPE-C to show exclusively on site the production of an interactive demonstrator.
"With the LOPE-C Demo Line, we are showing clearly that the technology has evolved to the point where we can even set up low-cost mass production right in the middle of an event,” said Thomas Kolbusch, vice president of Coatema and OE-A board member. LOPE-C2013 will be held June 11-12 at Messe Munchen.
The partners include:
• The Technical University of Darmstadt
• Fraunhofer ENAS
• adphos
• Bosch Rexroth
• Coatema
• DuPont Teijin Films
• Fujifilm Dimatix
• Heraeus Precious Metals
• LCR Hallcrest
• Novacentrix
• PChem Associates
• Schoeller Technocell
• Xenon (Polytec)
The production line will be manufacturing a credit card-sized battery tester. On paper or film, three functional layers will be applied over a width of 100 mm in several printing and coating processes, using a pilot system from Coatema. Once current is flowing through the battery tester, a logo will become visible.
On the LOPE-C Demo Line, visitors have the opportunity to familiarize themselves also with other production processes. There will be additional stations relating to inkjet printers, high-precision materials feed as well as process control and monitoring systems or equipment for sintering processes.
