SmartKem Limited announced that its SmartKem p-FLEX product has won the Technical Development Materials Award for the IDTechEx Printed Electronics Asia event, taking place in Tokyo, Japan on July 9-10, 2013.
The award recognizes company innovation, success and development and distinguishes the SmartKem p-FLEX product as the most significant technical advancement over the last 24 months in the field of material development.
The award was judged by an international panel of experts within the field, including professors from Brunel University and Kyung Hee University.
“We are all very proud here at SmartKem and fully believe our success is a result of our team of experts who advance and perfect our technology on a day to day basis,” Steve Kelly, CEO at SmartKem, said. “We pride ourselves in our technical development capability and aim to continue creating new leading products, such as SmartKem p-FLEX.”
SmartKem p-FLEX combines high mobility small molecule materials with proprietary binder matrix materials, to yield exceptionally high performance solution-based semiconductors that have high charge carrier mobility, can be processed in air, are stable up to and above 250°C and are fully compatible with a range of print processes.
SmartKem designs, synthesises and supplies p-type organic semiconductors for manufacture of flexible display TFT backplanes. The company has been committed to positioning itself as the leading supplier of solution-based semiconductors to the Asian display sector over the last 18 months and is now involved in a number of significant pilot production programs, shipping SmartKem p-FLEX to a range of leading display and chemical manufacturers in Asia. SmartKem offers customers excellence in material design and synthesis, high levels of expertise in TFT application and full engineering support in the technology transfer process to customer pilot lines.
