PDC Healthcare will exhibit its new TrustSense Patient ID Printing Solution and its complete line of labor and delivery ID solutions at the 2014 Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Convention, from June 14-18, in Orlando, FL.
The TrustSense Patient ID Printing Solution can help improve patient safety by ensuring that newborns are properly identified and matched to their mother and mother’s milk using automated bar code ID at bedside. The mobile and wireless printer – by Brother – uses smart technology to self-calibrate between wristband and label media, making it easy and more efficient for caregivers to move from room to room without first stopping at a nursing station to print ID labels and wristbands.
The system uses PDC Healthcare’s trusted media for optimum printing performance of bar codes, which have been proven to help reduce the risk of human error when used as the point of care.
“Identifying infants and matching them to their mothers immediately after birth is a crucial patient safety step to ensure each baby receives the proper treatment they need for the healthiest start possible,” said John Park, vice president of marketing/R&D for PDC Healthcare. “Most hospitals have or are in the process of moving from a human-readable ID system to a machine-readable solution. The TrustSense Patient ID Printing Solution answers that call with a printer that allows caregivers to print bar code wristbands and labels from the same machine at bedside.”
PDC Healthcare will also display its complete line of labor & delivery and NICU products that are specially designed for infant patient comfort including the TenderCare thermal and the DuraSoft TenderCare laser 4-part newborn ID systems, infant/neonatal wristbands, infant tethers, bar code tags, foot printers and a variety of accessories.
