Synaptics announced its touch and display driver integration (TDDI) technology was selected for the Samsung On5 and On7 smartphones. The new On5 and On7 are now available in China, Southwest Asia, and Africa, with additional countries to follow. Synaptics TouchView TDDI merges touchscreen controller and display driver IC (DDIC) technologies into a single chip – a technology pioneered by Synaptics.
The TD4300 TDDI solution featured on the Samsung On7 supports its 5.5-inch screen and Full HD resolution. The TD4100 featured on the Samsung On5 supports its 5.0-inch screen and HD resolution.
Synaptics TouchView enables faster time-to-market, lower overall system cost, a simplified supply chain, thinner devices, brighter displays and borderless designs. Patented touch features include support for up to 10 fingers, stylus, face detect, low power wake gestures, gloved touch and moisture performance
