Sun Chemical will showcase its full range of screen and offset inks, magnetic tapes, brand protection solutions and electronic materials for credit and laminated cards printing during the 2017 ICMA EXPO in Orlando, Fla. on March 27-30.

“Today, plastic cards can be a key source of revenue and customer loyalty for brand owners, but it is important to keep consumer data stored in each card protected from potential fraud,” said Chris Parrilli, VP and product manager for industrial applications, North American Inks, Sun Chemical. “Sun Chemical’s range of inks, coatings, magnetic tapes and adhesives, to anti-counterfeiting brand protection solutions and silver/graphite conductive inks can provide a complete solution for credit and laminated card printing.”

Sun Chemical’s SunCarte family of screen and offset inks, adhesives, and varnishes offer high bond strength and adherence to lamination while also providing consistent color reproduction. The SunCarte product line includes UV screen inks offering a variety of finishing options for use on plastic cards.

SunCarte UVPC Opaque White ink is designed to work on colored PVC core material, while SunCarte UVPC-Clear ink can be used to provide pearl, silver, gold and special effect color finishes. SunCarte also includes an Offset UV Plastic Card ink series designed exclusively for use on plastic cards.

Having supplied the financial sector globally with high quality magnetic tape for more than 40 years, Sun Chemical’s Advanced Materials division can provide card manufacturers with standard, color and printed magnetic tape options (based on DIC technology) that are aesthetically attractive with high durability and reliability.

Using its array of overt and covert brand-protection solutions, Sun Chemical can help governments and brands with strategy formulation, contingency planning, chain of custody framework and other components to ensure the integrity and security of ID cards.

One of many potential covert approaches that Sun Chemical offers is an infrared coding solution called Verigard, a security system that adds a small quantity of taggants (or chemical markers) to inks, varnishes or coatings for use in any print process on any substrate.

Credit card companies are also increasing the security of their cards through EMV technology. Sun Chemical Advanced Materials offers a variety of electronic materials options for this important space, including printed antenna and metallizations for interconnect, as well as advanced materials, such as jetable nano-silver, palladium, and gold to support the chip.
