According to reports from the Korea Times, Korea Herald and OLED-info, LG Chem has acquired DuPont’s soluble OLED technologies, in a deal estimated at $175 million by these sources. DuPont has an IP of 540 materials and process patents, which are included in the deal, as well as DuPont’s related R&D and equipment facilities.
The reports added that the deal does not include any assets from DowDupont’s evaporation OLED business. According to these reports, LG Chem made this move as the company sees the OLED industry moving toward inkjet printing of OLED panels utilizing soluble OLED materials and technologies.
