To kick off the new phase of the project, the Graphene Flagship launched an innovation-focused online hub to support researchers' professional careers.
The Graphene Flagship stands for European Research, Innovation and Collaboration.
Moving forward into the new phase of the project, the Graphene Flagship said it will be nourishing innovation more than ever, supporting and guiding its network of talented researchers towards more applied technologies.
To this end, the Graphene Flagship is introducing the Innovation Education and Training Platform.
The platform serves as a central training hub for Graphene Flagship researchers looking to bolster their professional careers in scientific innovation and academic entrepreneurship.
The platform, coordinated by Graphene Flagship's Innovation Work Package, offers a whole host of video courses and resources covering a range of topics, including intellectual property, patenting, start-up creation, technology transfer, venture capital and more – all in one place.
The wealth of content is provided by the Graphene Flagship's experts, in addition to several courses from the European Patent Office.
The platform offers training for researchers at any stage in their career and aims to help researchers establish and solidify their presence in an increasingly competitive commercial environment.

As the new phase of the project commences, Graphene Flagship said it is
excited to see its 12 spin-off companies flourish and its 11 new industry-focused Spearhead Projects make their mark on their respective fields.
The Graphene Flagship said it is just as committed to supporting innovations in graphene and layered materials, and is hopeful that its Innovation Education and Training Platform will help talented Graphene Flagship researchers get their products out of the lab and onto the market.
"The Innovation Education and Training Platform will help our partners to make proactive decisions that increase the likelihood of innovation and commercialization," said Kari Hjelt, head of Innovation at the Graphene Flagship. "The content covers general topics on how to turn research into products and services, with an emphasis on hands-on techniques, as well as subjects of specific relevance to the Graphene Flagship and the graphene market."
