Heliatek announced that its award-winning organic solar film HeliaSol passed the criteria of the Solar Impulse Foundation to be approved as one of its listed efficient solutions.
The “1000solutions” program was launched by Bertrand Piccard (the first person that circumnavigated the world in the solar airplane “Solar Impulse”) to promote innovations that help to protect our environment profitably.
Currently, more than 400 of these solutions are listed in the five categories:
- Affordable and Clean Energy: HeliaSol;
- Clean Water and Sanitation;
- Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure;
- Sustainable Cities and Communities;
- Responsible Consumption and Production
Heliatek received the label in the category Affordable and Clean Energy for its organic solar film HeliaSol.
The Solar Impulse Foundation experts recognized the potential of the HeliaSol to transform surfaces and buildings that were not accessible for solar before, into clean energy generators.
The ready-to-use solar film is Heliatek’s first commercial product, which will be launched in September 2020.
The product, based on a proprietary clean technology and production process, combines special features of being ultra-lightweight, flexible, ultra-thin and truly green in a solar module.
With a carbon footprint of 5-7 g CO2e/khW in Central Europe, the product offers an impactful way to generate sustainable green electricity and decarbonize the energy sector.
The label enables public awareness for Heliatek´s innovative technology.
Furthermore, the grant access to the powerful network of the Solar Impulse Foundation helps to connect clean-tech entrepreneurs, governmental entities and companies around the world to protect our environment.
“Our organic solar solution will drive a more sustainable future and help to master climate change, the biggest challenge of our time," Heliatek CEO Guido van Tartwijk said. "With our organic photovoltaic technology, we offer a solution that enables virtually every building and surface to generate clean and decentralized electricity. We are inspired by the vision of Bertrand Piccard and are looking forward to bringing our breakthrough technology to market in the course of this year."
