Zebra Technologies Corporation announced that UK utilities service provider, Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) selected Zebra L10 rugged tablets to support its digital strategy for improving customer service and meeting industry regulatory goals related to reducing carbon emissions.
“We set high standards for this project, and Zebra is helping us surpass them,” said Kerry-Anne Harrison, Digital Business Change Program manager, SSEN. “Zebra’s devices are rugged and built to last, backed with smart enterprise tools that make them easy to manage throughout the lifecycle.”
To support its digital strategy, SSEN needed to optimize data access and capture for accurate reporting to manage its network assets.
Today, 1,000 field workers use the L10 Android enterprise tablet and benefit from its battery performance, screen legibility (anti-glare in sunlight) and camera for condition checks in challenging outdoor environments, such as being carried cross country and up pylons often in extreme weather conditions.
Technicians, engineers and field service representatives can now go straight to the customer site without first visiting the depot. This reduces mileage and the potential risk of road traffic accidents, enabling faster resolution of issues and outages which ultimately improves the customer experience.
SSEN’s staff members can do their jobs efficiently in the field and work from home using the Zebra L10 tablet which has accelerated its move to going paperless, lowering costs, increasing operational workflows and productivity, whilst reducing carbon emissions.
“With the Zebra tablet, SSEN now has the right mobile device to protect its investment and drive its application strategy,” said Tim Stoddard, VP, Northern Europe, Zebra Technologies. “Zebra’s hardware and software solutions help front-line workers be more efficient and productive.”
