Zebra Technologies Corporation announced that Italian grocery retailer Iperal selected Zebra’s PS20 personal shopping solution (PSS) and CC6000 interactive kiosks to enhance customers’ shopping experience in three of its 50 hypermarkets and supermarkets in Northern Italy.
“We are focused on providing an optimal shopping experience for our customers that includes the option of using a PSS,” said Claudio Vettore, director of Systems, Processes and Digital Marketing, Iperal. “We collaborated with Zebra and RetAPPs, a Zebra PartnerConnect Premier Independent Software Vendor Partner to create an easy-to-use solution to drive PSS usage that will attract and engage more customers.”
After trialing a competing solution in a few stores, Iperal ultimately decided on a more user-friendly and adaptable Android self-scanning solution to roll out across its stores.
Additionally, the grocery retailer needed a partner with a 360° retail digital offering that could provide longer-term solutions to drive increased usability amongst customers along with a strong return on its investment.
The solution combines Zebra’s PS20 Android Personal Shopper and CC6000 interactive kiosks with a bespoke, Iperal-branded version of RetAPPs’ SmartBip application.
When customers first use Iperal’s new PSS, they are prompted to register on the interactive kiosk and scan their store cards on the CC6000 to unlock the personal shopper device, which they can use while shopping to scan items immediately as they place them in their bags.
Via the SmartBip app, customers can access integrated shopping lists, digital loyalty cards, coupons, and interactive flyers. Once customers finish shopping, they can quickly and conveniently pay via the app at one of the dedicated checkouts.
