Generally, the study of measurable biological characteristics. In computer security, biometrics refers to authentication techniques that rely on measurable physical characteristics that can be automatically checked.

Biometrics is the term given to the use of biological traits or behavioral characteristics to identify an individual. It can be used to make transactions such as banking, ATMs, credit cards, medical information and even cellular phones more secure.
