The field of printed electronics continues to enjoy strong interest from end-users, and new applications continue to emerge. LOPE-C 2011, which will be held June 28-30, 2011 at the Messe Frankfurt, Germany, will offer attendees excellent opportunities to learn about these new possibilities.
LOPE-C is sponsored by the Organic Electronic Association (OE-A), part of theVDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau – German Engineering Federation). OE-A has more than 180 members. LOPE-C is expected to draw more than 1,000 attendees as well as more than 90 exhibitors from Europe, the U.S. and Asia.
Due to an increased demand for exhibition space, LOPE-C 2011 is moving from the Forum into Hall 5.1 and the Conference Centre at the Messe Frankfurt this year.
Wolfgang Mildner, chairman of the Organic Electronics Association (OE-A) and general chair of LOPE-C, said that LOPE-C 2011 offers an extremely comprehensive program, with more than 150 presentations covering the full range from applications, production to equipment and materials, as well as presentations by leading end-users, including Airbus, BMW, Stora Enso and The Marketing Store.
“With LOPE-C, we provide the central market place for the industry,” Mildner said. “We expect more than 1,000 attendees and more than 90 exhibitors, making it the largest event in the field, and we have had great response from the exhibitors.
“The exhibition area grew by more than 35% to 1500 square meters compared to last year,” Mildner added. “We had to move the exhibition on the Messe Frankfurt fairground to Hall 5 to accommodate all the exhibitors. Exhibitors are expanding their stand area and lot of production equipment will be in operation. The new hall is door-to-door with the Congress Center.”
LOPE-C will also feature plenary presentations from Europe, Korea, Japan and the U.S. covering new applications, OLED lighting, flexible displays, strategies and roadmap. The business conference, including the Investors Forum, will showcase leading international investors presenting as well as end-users, this includes also an Investor Forum.
The technical conference will feature leading PE companies discussing the latest development in areas such as OPV (Konarka, Solarmer, Solar Press, Plextronics); OLED lighting (Osram, Konica Minolta, Moser Baer, DuPont, Blackbody, Thorn) and additional sessions on Integrated Smart Systems, displays and devices. The Scientific Conference presents the latest progress in research with more than 100 papers, reviewed and selected by an international committee of experts.
OE-A will also present the 4th edition of the "OE-A roadmap for organic and printed electronics."
Mildner said that he is seeing tremendous interest form end-users for printed electronics.
“We see big interest from end-user industries such as automotive, printing, packaging and consumer electronics looking for new applications,” Mildner said. “The strong commitment from companies and investors setting up production lines for displays, OPV and OLED lighting show that printed electronics is moving into mass production. Initial products are on the market and the new OE-A roadmap describes the market entry of the next generations of products in the main application areas.”
