Konarka Technologies, Inc. announced it has named Kenneth McCauley as vice president - sales, marketing and business development. McCauley brings an exemplary record of accomplishment in leading global organizations to profitable growth. Serving AT&T/Lucent Microelectronics for 21 years, he and his team booked $1 billion in revenue during his leadership of the telecom and wireless customer segment.
Most recently, he served as vice president and general manager of Earthsponse, a renewable energy products subsidiary of Modern Marketing Concepts, Inc., where he developed a new brand while constructing and training a distribution/contractor network and direct sales team. Prior to Earthsponse, McCauley initiated the BIPV operating division at EPV Solar for its amorphous thin-film silicon technology, and in just two years personally developed a project pipeline exceeding $300 million.
"Ken is an impeccable match for Konarka with his technical background in thin-film photovoltaics, working for a wide range of organizations from small scale start-ups through Fortune 50 companies," commented Howard Berke, chairman, CEO and co-founder of Konarka. "While he brings large company experience with his many years at AT&T/Lucent, he also has brought start-ups from a zero base to extensive profitable growth. His broad-based experience in sales and business development, and particularly his extensive OEM relationships throughout the Asia/Pacific region, will serve us well in expanding distribution sales and design wins for Konarka’s Power Plastic globally."
McCauley began his career at AT&T/Lucent as a chemical process engineer then served in various sales and business development roles over two decades throughout the world, including five years as a resident in the Asia/Pacific region. He was vice president of worldwide sales and marketing at NanoOpto, a manufacturer of nanoscale optical components, as well as vice president of business development at IQE, a leading supplier of epitaxial compound semiconductor wafer growth services. McCauley has received numerous sales and sales management awards. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Bucknell University and an MBA from University of Richmond.
"I have enjoyed many years developing strong customer relationships and delivering a competitive advantage with differentiated products and technologies driving successful business growth for AT&T/Lucent during the first part of my career, and more recently, for solar energy focused organizations," commented McCauley. "With Konarka’s inspiring, world class team, its industry leading solar cell efficiency, recently achieving the world record at 8.4 percent and its unique technology offering several advantages over other OPV technologies, the company is well positioned to further develop numerous markets in diverse applications throughout the world."
