Konarka Technologies, Inc. announced that Dr. Stuart Spitzer, vice president, materials and engineering, is speaking at the 3rd Façades Design & Delivery Conference on Jan. 24, 2012 in New York City. Dr. Spitzer will be presenting, “Integrating Solar Energy Systems into Façade Designs: BIPV.” Taking place on Monday, January 23 - Wednesday, January 25, 2012, Konarka will also be exhibiting at the conference, hosted by the International Quality & Productivity Center (IQPC).
Dr. Spitzer has more than 37 years of semiconductor research and development experience in microelectronics, 25 of those in technology management. During his presentation, he will provide an overview of third generation thin-film organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices and new technology that extends the length of the solar day. He will also discuss tapping into an unused resource - east, west and south vertical surfaces of buildings. Through illustrative examples of solar curtain walls, he will reveal enhanced building appearance through color, shape and transparency.
Konarka is a world leader in OPV technology. The company's organic photovoltaic film is thin, light weight, transparent and flexible, and ideal for integration into curtain walls, windows and various building materials, including glass, steel, composites and various fabrics. Thin-film OPV has the most rapid energy payback of all the PV technologies, including silicon-based. Dr. Spitzer will be providing samples of Konarka's Power Plastic to attendees of his presentation.
