Dyesol Limited’s innovation was recognized May 9, 2012 at the 9th Annual Manufacturers’ Monthly Endeavour Awards with the company winning the Highly Commended Award in the Most Innovative Manufacturing Company category.
Dyesol was selected as a finalist in four categories:
• The Global Integration Award, which recognizes international collaboration and supply chains.
• The Most Innovative Manufacturing Company, which recognizes innovation and problem solving in the sector.
• The Young Manufacturer of the Year Award – Dyesol Chemical Engineer Jesse Ce Zheng, for the outstanding contribution he made to the Company through innovation, quality results, and completion of projects.
• The Lifetime Achievement Award – Dyesol founder and director Sylvia Tulloch, for her outstanding contribution to the Company and the wider manufacturing community.
Dyesol’s cutting edge, renewable energy technology – dye solar cells, or DSC – is a photovoltaic enabling technology. This means DSC can be applied onto other existing products to generate electricity and reduce the energy footprint right at the point of use.
Embedding DSC renewable energy generating technology into glass windows for building facades and into steel roofing material are two of Dyesol’s major projects in the building integrated photovoltaic market – a sector NanoMarkets’ estimates to be worth $6.4 billion by 2016. The company has industry-leading partnerships with Pilkington North America and Tata Steel Europe for the mass market manufacture and commercialization of DSC enabled glass façade and steel roofing material, respectively.
“Innovation is at the heart our company,” said Tulloch. “Dyesol has a culture of creating solutions and our focus is on clean, renewable energy.”
“Recognition of Dyesol’s innovation at Australia's manufacturing night of nights is a real honor for us. I am proud of what Dyesol has achieved on the road to commercializing a brand new technology,” said Dyesol director Gordon Thompson.
