Leading representatives of industry, research and the government met in Beijing on Nov. 10-12, 2013 to discuss the future of energy-saving lighting using light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The prestigious China Solid State Lighting (SSL) Conference organized by the China Solid State Lighting Alliance (CSA) is taking place for the 10th time.
At the AIXTRON MOCVD Seminar, leading LED manufacturers presented practice-oriented production results based on AIXTRON’s current system generations. The potential of organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) has also been the subject of great discussion at the conference.
Tim Wang, general manager of AIXTRON China Ltd. welcomed 180 guests to AIXTRON’s MOCVD Seminar. “I am delighted to have some of our key customers, such as Nantong Tongfang Semiconductor, Nanojoin Photonics and Changelight, hold presentations on actual production data achieved on our systems,” Wang said. “They covered our main products which are widely used in China, including AIX G5 HT, CRIUS II-XL and AIX 2800G4 systems.”
“The adoption of LEDs within the general lighting market is progressing rapidly. To support our customers in enhancing their competitiveness, we have intensified our technical customer service and our efforts to increase productivity,” said AIXTRON CEO Martin Goetzeler. “This is being positively received in China, one of our most important markets for LED manufacturing equipment.”
“Alongside LED production-related topics, such as yield improvement, low production costs and increasing throughput, AIXTRON is working closely on new cost effective production technologies for use in organic electronics,” added AIXTRON CTO Andreas Tönnis.
In the first quarter of 2014, AIXTRON’s organic cluster system with multiple process modules for the deposition of organic materials on 200x200mm² substrates will be put into operation. The new cluster will allow to demonstrate deposition processes for organic thin films on device level and in an production-like environment. AIXTRON's OVPD technology enables production of OLED devices with very high deposition rates at attractive manufacturing costs when compared to conventional vacuum deposition processes.
The CSA and AIXTRON can look back on 10 years of working successfully together. In recognition of its close cooperation with the Chinese LED industry, AIXTRON was at the time the first foreign guest member to be admitted to the alliance.
