An Asian leader in safety and security systems, working with Epishine, will launch a smoke detector on the market this year that should never need to replace the batteries. This initiative is expected to set new standards in safety equipment by enhancing longevity and reliability of smoke detectors.
”Epishine's indoor solar cells are uniquely bendable and the only ones capable of handling the round form factor typically used for smoke detectors,” said Mattias Josephson, chief scientific officer of Epishine. “Our organic solar cells are specifically optimized for low-light indoor applications, making them perfect for powering devices like smoke detectors.”
Epishine’s technology captures light from indoor environments to generate power efficiently, making it ideal for devices requiring low energy consumption. This agreement should be worth approximately $15 million USD per year after ramp-up for Epishine.
