Alien Technology announced that the company has named Steve Wang as its new chief technology officer (CTO). Wang will oversee the company’s strategic technical direction and lead Alien’s engineering, operations and product management teams worldwide.
Before joining Alien, Wang served as CTO and vice president of global R&D for Checkpoint Systems, where he led the development of RFID solutions for various cloud, retail and bank security applications.
“Steve has a proven track record as a CTO overseeing the development of solutions from telecom and networking to security and the Internet of Things,” said Alien CEO Chris Chang. “Steve also understands customer end-systems and selling RFID products and components, and we’re excited about his contributions to Alien.”
Along with holding more than 60 patents, Wang’s professional background includes working in executive engineering and R&D positions at New Wave Research, OpTun Inc. and Finisar. He also previously held technical and leadership positions at Hewlett Packard and Lasertron (Corning).
