Carnegie Science Center announced the winners of its 2011 Carnegie Science Awards. Plextronics was selected to receive the Corporate Innovation Award for its success in generating and maintaining a “corporate environment that has enabled its team to create, develop and commercialize varied products in the new field of printable electronics. Their products go beyond traditional science methods and utilize breakthrough manufacturing techniques.”
Plextronics and the other awardees will be honored during a formal celebration at Carnegie Music Hall on May 6, 2011. Keynote speaker for the ceremony is Anousheh Ansari, co-founder and chairman of Prodea Systems and the first female private space explorer and first space ambassador.
"We are proud to be associated with a program that recognizes the revolutionary technology and advances in science-related industries throughout our region," said Jerry Whitaker, president of the Americas for Eaton Corporation's Electrical Sector and sponsor of the Science Awards. "These individuals and corporations have an impact that expands into the global marketplace."
"Our honorees are extraordinary researchers, educators, and entrepreneurs who have achieved amazing success in their respective industries," said Ann Metzger, Henry Buhl Jr., co-director of Carnegie Science Center. "Their achievements are a testimony not only to their dedication and perseverance, but also to the commitment and drive of our region."
