Active supporters of the United Nation’s Sustainable Energy for All initiative launched in 2012, Eight19 has joined the Global Lighting and Energy Access Partnership (Global LEAP).
Global LEAP is a senior forum that brings together governments, the private sector and development partners to share knowledge and best practices under a set of commonly held principles to encourage self-sustaining commercial markets for energy access solutions.
As a member, Eight19 shares the commitment of the Global LEAP principles to accelerate self-sustaining commercial markets for energy access solutions.
The United Foundation, the World Bank, the U.S. Department of Energy and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) will officially launch Global LEAP in London, where energy ministers from the 23 Clean Energy Ministerial governments gathered alongside the High-level Group principals and technical advisors.
Eight19's Indigo pay-as-you-go solar was highlighted by the UN's Sustainable Energy for All initiative as a story of innovative work being done towards achieving the three objectives announced by UN Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon in January 2012. Indigo was noted to be making progress in all three objectives of energy efficiency, renewable energy and universal access.
