JADAK, a business unit of Novanta Corporation, introduced its ThingMagic RAIN Starter Kit developed in collaboration with Impinj, Inc. and the RAIN RFID Alliance.
The kit supports the RAIN Communication Interface (RCI) and will serve as a tool to increase exposure and access to RAIN RFID, a wireless technology connecting billions of everyday items to the internet, enabling businesses and consumers to identify, locate, authenticate, and engage each item.
The starter kit provides an easily accessible and affordable platform for students and hobbyists to use when learning to apply this technology, while also promoting best practices for using RAIN RFID.
“It’s important for JADAK to support the adoption of RAIN RFID by increasing access to the technology for students and non-professional developers who will become the future innovators of the Internet of Things,” said Harinath Reddy, senior director of R&D for ThingMagic RFID.
The ThingMagic RAIN Starter Kit consists of the ThingMagic RAIN reader and sample RAIN tags from RAIN RFID Alliance members. The starter kit delivers out-of-box item connectivity utilizing the Impinj Indy R500 RAIN RFID reader chip and sample tags enabled by Impinj Monza RAIN RFID tag chips.
JADAK’s ThingMagic RAIN Starter Kit offers functionality as per RAIN RFID Alliance developer community guidelines and is a budget-friendly solution for hobbyists and students looking to learn and experiment with RAIN RFID. For professional applications, JADAK’s ThingMagic EL6e Smart Module and Elara USB Plug-and-Play Reader provide a fuller set of features and higher levels of performance.
The ThingMagic RAIN Starter Kit will be available for sale in September and will be distributed by atlasRFIDstore.com.
