The SCHOTT technology group is adding a state-of-the-art new building to its existing plant in Western Landshut, which extends SCHOTT’s 80-year presence in the Lower Bavarian district capital.
The expansion not only aligns with the company’s continuous growth strategy, which is geared towards driving innovation, but also with its commitment to environmental stewardship. The facility will be 100% climate-neutral and meet all its electricity needs using renewable energy sources.
With the Landshut construction project, the technology group is making itself fit for the future and investing a substantial double-digit million-euro sum. After completion, which is planned for fall 2025, the current SCHOTT plant in the city center will relocate to the new site and begin consolidating into a large competence center in Landshut.
During the official groundbreaking ceremony on Dec. 5, 2023, Peter Kniprath, head of SCHOTT Business Unit Electronic Packaging, welcomed Landshut's Lord Mayor Alexander Putz, Lower Bavaria's District President Rainer Haselbeck and others to celebrate the start of a new era together.
"As the center of our site, the new building will enable us to strengthen Landshut as one of the most important innovation and development locations of the SCHOTT Group," said Kniprath.
Site manager Thomas Gassner adds, "By optimizing the structures and creating state-of-the-art production facilities, we will be able to further improve our international competitiveness and create a modern and future-oriented environment for our employees."
The new building in the heart of Bavaria reaffirms SCHOTT’s commitment to the region, after doing business there for more than 80 years. The expansion further strengthens Landshut's standing as a thriving business hub.
As a leading international technology group, SCHOTT develops and produces specialty glasses and high-tech components for a wide range of markets and applications. For many years, the Landshut site has acted as an innovation center and partner for global customers from a wide range of growth industries including data and telecommunications, e-mobility, consumer electronics, medical and dental technology, energy, sensor technology and the aerospace industry.
